Wendell Boys team and Girls team played St Stephens
Wendell girls secured a winning goal in the last two minutes.
Stephens Boys clinched a goal in the last minutes of their match.
Final results were

Paua Class Assembly presented their first class assembly to the school.
They have been learning about light and dark. Our budding young scientist explained thir knowledge and understanding of sources of light.
Well done Paua class for speaking so confidently.

League Tables
Just before the end of last term the Hammersmith and Fulham primary school league tables were published.
We were aware of the reasons why some cjhildren in this cohort had the potential to underachieve. The reasons for these results have been identified and carefully analysed for lessons to be learnt, actions to be taken to secure the results for other cohorts.

Winter Fair 2011

Thank you to everyone who contributed and donated to the fair being such a success. The fair was organised by The Friends of Wendell Park and  raised £2450.

Carol Singing at Ravenscourt Park Station
Well done to the intrepid parents that gathered outside Ravenscourt Park tube station with collection buckets singing carols. For an hour they sang their hearts out and raised almost £200.

Reception and Nursery Plays
The Foundation Stage Nativity Plays were fantastic.
For the first time, Reception used a scripted play so children had to learn their parts. They were confident, assured and the singing was superb

KS1 Christmas Play
The Key Stage 1 nativity play 'The Empty Stable' was a huge success. Both performances were well attended by mums, dads and grandparents. All 140 children were included but the main parts were taken by Year 2 and they kept the audience enthralled. Highlights included solos from three children.
Well done Ms Kime - KS1 leader.

Westfield Christmas Carol Competition.
The school choir took part and performed well however did not go on to the next round.

Year 4 Science Museum trip.
Children learnt about 'FORCES OF NATURE', What are structures? and about 'SPREADING THE FORCE'. They also eperimented in the 'Launchpad' area.

The Big Nursery Toddle
all children and nursery staff set off to take part in the annual barnados 'Big Toddle'. This is a sponsored national walk event to help children less fortunate than themselves

School journey to Avon Tyrell
Thank you to Year 6 for telling us how much fun they had on they school journey to Avon Tyrell. Amongst endless fun and hilarious antics, they enjoyed a night walk and orienteering.

National Anti-Bullying Week
Yesterday was a 'blue day'. Not because we were sad but because we all tried to wera something blue to show that children and staff at Wendall Park say NO TO BULLYING.

Onyx Class assembly was about school bullying. The Year one children eplained that it is clear that bullying isnt something that happens by accident. A bully hurts someone again and again.

Eid Party ! - This was a very successful Friends of Wendell Park fundraiser with tea salon, head &  hand massage, calligraphy, drum, musique, henna, face painting, arabic coffee and international food stalls. total raised £340.23

Emerald and Turquoise Classes gave a combined assembly about the Hindu festival Diwali.
They acted out the story of Ramayana about how Rania rescued Sita from the evil Ravana and how people welcomed them home with lighted lamps. At Diwali, Hindu`s remember the victory of good over evil and that when it seems life cannot get any worse, the  tiniest glimmers of light are found in love, hope and friendship and are all you need to keep going.

Well done to Ruby Class for their assembly about teeth. aeveryone had a a clue it was about teeth beforehand as all the children had pictures of teeth attached to the front of their clothes. They acted out the tale of Lucy and the Dentist. there were some very funny moments

The Inaugral Wendell Park University Challenge 2011
Children in years 5 & 6 faced questions such as:
Which famous shakespearean character said, 'To be or not to be, that is the question?' Supported by their deliriously excited crowd of supporters from their respective classes they battled through eight rounds consisting of questions on Literature, Science, History, Geopraphy,Maths, Pop Culture and general knowledge.

The first assembly by Aquamarine Class was about Black History Month. They gave lots of information in loud clear voices.

Football Teams
Once again Wendell Park has entered two teams for the borough wide Mayors Cup football competition. Both teams have won their first matches.

Sapphire Class started this years class assemblies with the focus on Harvest. They acted out the story of the Enormous Turnip. Everyone enjoyed seeing the turnip emerge! Well done Sapphire Class.

Harvest Celebrations
Next week we will be focusing on Harvest Celebrations which take place in many countries and cultures. we will be collecting food to give to the Upper Room - a project for homeless people based at St Saviours Church.

23 November 2010 - 'Nursery Toddle' to Wendell Park

The Nursery children set off to Wendell Park to take part in the annual Barnardo's 'Big Toddle'. Everybody walked twice around the park and collected leaves of different shapes and colours to bring back to school.  Well done to everyone who took part.

This work starts on the 25th July and will be mainly completed by !st September
Wendell Park new look, building works to improve the entrance/reception area and playground.

Year 5 Production of Shakespeares 'A Midsummers Night`s Dream' took place last night. As always the production and performance were of a very high standard. Well done to everyone particulary Ms Teri Bailey who adapted and produced the play.

Summer Carnival
Our Summer Fair took place on Saturday 3rd and was a runaway success with hundreds of families coming to the school to enjoy a fantastic afternoon of sunshine. For the first time we had Go- Kating in the back playground.

Year 5 Assembly was about their production of Shakespeares 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and the characters in it. They are currently rehearsing for their  performance on Thursday 8th July.

The 2010 Hammersmith and Fulham Borough Athletics Championships
Wendell Park School athletes took part in the 2010 Hammersmith and Fulham Borough Athletics Championships at Linford Christie Stadium. Well done to all the children that took part, in particular, those who made it through to the finals.

Our theme for the week was Dance and Fitness which all the children and even some adults participated.

Mini Marathon 2010
Every class took part in the mini marathon, both running and taking their turn in supporting and cheering another year. Well done to everyone. The min marathom took place in WendellPark.

The Football Tournament
11 teams took part in the Football Tournament this year which was held, as usual, in Wendell Park. The teachers formed a  team and took on the year 6 teams.
The West Arrows were the winners of the Over 9`s Tournament. The Strikers were the winners of the Under 9`s. Beat the Boys won the trophy for best play and sportsmanship.  Beat the Boys were the youngest team in the tournament and played against children as much as 3 years older.

Year 2 visit to Holland Park Ecology Centre

Lounis said "I enjoyed finding mini beasts. I found a centipede which is my favorite mini-beast."

Yr2 Visit to the Ragged School Museum
Children and teachers dressed in Victorian costume for their trip to the Ragged School Museum where they had very srict lessons with Ms Perkins in a victorian style classroom. Yr2 have been learning about the the Victorians this term.

Yr3 Visit to London Zoo.

Children had a wonderful day at the Zoo. They saw lots of animals including Monkeys and Lion cubs.They also learnt about pollution and the Killer Jellyfish at the Education Centre.

Wendell Park School were the WINNERS of London St Patrick's Day Schools Project Ireland's Got Talent.
Well done to Miss Hanna for her hard work in preparing the play and for the choir and actors for their performance which had to be submitted by video. Community Week
Children from accross the school spent time in local residential homes with elderly ladies and gentlemen nearly 90 years older than them. They brought examples of their work to share with them. Thy also sang Obla Di Obla Da they had practised with Miss Hanna.

Skittleball Championship
The Year 4 players were chosen to represent the school in the local skittleball championship.  The players did extremely well and showed great sportsmanship.

The grand opening of THE NEW LIBRARY
With great excitment the new library was opened by local authors Josh Lacey and Cressida Cowell. They cut the ribbon together and the school council and parents at the assembly were the first to go into the library.
Thank you to Mrs Hough, Sophie Murphy and Tony Bailey. They did a great job creating such a beautiful room for the children to read in..

Year 4 Road Safety Workshop
The classes were split into two groups to watch a video about keeping safe on roads and then to practice what they had learnt out on the roads. They were then given a test.

Fund raising for Haiti
Fund raising started with two cake stalls raising over £200.

Florence Nightingale from the Florence Nightingale Museum
visited Year 2. She arrived in traditional Victorian dress and talked to the children about her life as a nurse.

The children saw the Prank Patrol Van and the Doctor Who Tardis as well as visiting the Blue Peter gardens.

Collecting for Lepra
The school has been collecting for  the charity Lepra and presented a cheque for £85 .

Anti Bullying week
The whole school  joined hands around the walls chanting "Say no to bullying" . Pupils paid £1 for "Children in Need"  to dress in blue for the day.
