Key Stage 1 2016
Children at the end of Year 2 are assessed using Standard Assessment Tasks (SATS). The results are used to compare the performance of children nationally.
Phonics Check 2016
Children at the end of Year 1 are assessed on their use of phonics. The phonics screening check is a short and simple assessment of phonic decoding. It consists of a list of 40 words, half real words and half non-real words, which Year 1 children read to a teacher. This helps teachers identify children who need additional support with phonics. Children who score above the threshold (32/40 in 2016) are considered to have passed the check. Children who score below the threshold will repeat the phonics screening check at the end of Year 2.
Year 1 children scoring above the threshold in 2016 = 76% (National 81%)
Year 2 children scoring above the threshold in 2016 = 90%

- the early learning goals in the specific areas of mathematics and literacy.
