Religious Education & Collective worship

Our school has children from a wide variety of religious and non-religious backgrounds. Our curriculum reflects the fact that religious traditions are in the main Christian in Britain but also takes account of the teaching and practices of other principle traditions represented in Great Britain. We encourage children to develop the skills of interpretation, reflection, empathy, evaluation, analysis, synthesis and application. We follow the agreed syllabus for Religious Education in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, exploring such themes as My Feelings My World, Myths and Legends of Early Civilisations, Faiths around the World, Christians in Britain and Religion Today.

Children study R.E. through topic work, focused work and through assemblies. Our assemblies help to promote the spiritual, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils and society. We seek to encourage: enthusiasm, a sense of caring and sharing, a sense of community, a sense of awe and an opportunity to celebrate and worship. Parents or carers may withdraw their children from RE lessons or assemblies They are invited to discuss this with the Headteacher.
