At Wendell Park, as well as the day-to-day learning that takes place, we provide our pupils with an enriched learning experience.
Philosophy 4 Children (P4C) techniques and questions are utilised by teachers across the key stages in order to encourage deep and flexible thinking about complex issues.
Mindfulness techniques and meditation practices are embedded into the daily routine in order to help maintain focus. At Wendell Park we follow the MindUP curriculum (www.uk.mindup.org)
Each term, children develop their team working skills by completing Skills Builder challenge weeks as well as going on trips to see how their skills might be transferred into the world of work. For more information about Skills Builder, please follow the link: www.skillsbuilder.org
We use a house system for children from Key Stage 1 upwards which boosts morale and team spirit by engaging children in purposeful challenges with a healthy element of competition. Recent examples of house events: spelling bee, poetry slam, baking contest, sports day. These events have proven successful at uniting children across year groups towards a common goal.
We offer a wealth of extra-curricular activities to cater to a wide range of interests and talents including circus skills, netball, drama, music, Lego and cooking (and many others depending on the term)
